Papelera Nacional to invest $20M in new box plant in Ecuador

SAO PAULO, April 19, 2010 (RISI) - Papelera Nacional, located in Guayaquil, Ecuador, is investing $20 million to build a new corrugated box plant on its existing industrial site. The new facility is expected to start up at the end of 2010.

Its new converting unit main suppliers are Spanish MEDESA and MARTIN from France. The company has also acquired additional equipment from North American suppliers.

Last year, Papelera Nacional rebuilt its PM 2 increasing its overall production capacity from 105,000/tonnes/yr of containerboard to 140,000 tonnes/yr. The company manufactures testliner fluting and extensible sack kraft and also converts its papers into bags, tubes and pads for bananas.
